John Dickerson says in Slate that the attack ads put out by the Clinton campaign this week are simply creating more work for her in the GE campaign.
Effective or not, Clinton's new ad will add more evidence to fuel the claim that Clinton is trying not just to beat Obama but to destroy him—because if he loses against McCain, she gets an opening in 2012. If Clinton doesn't get the nomination, she's going to have to deal with this view or see her future chances in presidential politics severely damaged. She already suffers from high negative ratings. If she's pegged as a hope killer because she bloodied Obama, she may lose the chance to woo a bloc of Democrats forever.
Clinton's best chance to fix this problem is to suck up to Obama after the primaries by working hard for him in the general election. The more she dings him now, as she does with this new ad, the more work she's creating for herself in the fall.
..
If Clinton ends up in this corner, you can imagine the assignments that Obama or his staffers will dream up as payback.
Let us think up places that Obama can send Sen. Clinton in the Summer and Fall.
********Bear with me. This is my first time blogging at the Daily Kos, although I've been reading it religiously through this primary. Props to this site!
Hillary Clinton's Campaign requests openly for others to "Share Your Comments, Thoughts, And Ideas"... well as a former resident of Chappaqua, NY (and the greater Westchester County area), I felt I should share my sage thoughts on "the state of the race, our campaign strategy or your ideas for doing things differently" as they so graciously solicit.
Really, after such a long and eventful primary season, who could resist this black-tie invitation into my mental inner sanctum? Not I!

I needed a break from the all the bullshit politics and decided to have a little fun so I put together the video below using clips from a movie I remember seeing as a child, "Annie Get Your Gun" and used a few of my Obama and Hillary clips and put together something lighthearted.

So I know I'm older than many on this board, but as Obama's swipe at Hillary Clinton sunk in:
“She knows better. She is running around talking about how this is an insult to sportsmen. She, how she values the Second Amendment, she’s talking like she is Annie Oakley. Hillary Clinton is out there like she’s out in the duck blind every Sunday. She’s packing a six shooter. Come on. She knows better.
I began to think about that famous 1950s musical about the relationship of Annie Oakley and Frank Butler. I don't know if Obama is this savvy or maybe it's one of his staff people, but once again, he's subtly nailed Hillary's personality.
Obama, in one of the best speeches against the patronizing dumbing down of Hillary Clinton's latest remarks about those of us who come from working (blue collar if you will) families of America was painful and insulting to watch. As Obama says, Hillary has gone all "Annie Oakley" on us. Does she have any idea what an ass she looks like. It's clear she doesn't have a clue that most of the hunting done in my poor upstate New York neck of the woods is a JOB, not a SPORT. Most families I know who hunt, do to fill their freezers with venison because beef is too expensive.
Next thing she's join a chain saw competition and tell how wonderful it is that most of the men and women from my town have to spend half the summer cutting and splitting wood so it's not green and will burn well in the winter... it's a job.... not some cultural folk art we woodsie people love to do.
Well I know most of us are going to be "clinging" to the next set of polls. Rasmussen Daily Tracking just came out a few minutes ago. This is the first poll that has front portion of "Bittergate" (pleeease) in the numbers.
In the race for the Democratic Presidential Nomination, Obama leads Clinton 48% to 44%.
"You know my dad took me out behind the cottage my grandfather built on a little lake called Lake Winola outside of Scranton and taught me how to shoot when I was a little girl," she said.
More on Democratic candidate Annie Oakley after the jump.
Just when I'm becoming so tired of this endless campaign.
Just when I start to worry that maybe Obama blew it a little bit.
Just when I start to forget why he's gotten this far, and wonder how effectively he can respond to what could easily be a terrible "gaffe".
I see this video from Halperin's The Page under the headline COUNTERPUNCH:
update: Now with embedded YouTube video!
How brilliant is that? I mean, this guy is good. I would have loved to have been in the crowd for this one, as he was on top of his game as I haven't seen him be in a while. Fresh, vibrant, visceral, effective. I wish I knew what that person in the crowd said toward the end of the video. He asks, hears the answer, chuckles, but doesn't repeat it and moves on.
