Addresses to Thank Keith Olbermann for doing what no other newsperson would do

Thu Mar 13, 2008 at 08:42:38 AM PDT

Keith Olbermann has again proven himself a man of character.  While we watch the biggest names in news, in politics and in this country sit silently as Hillary Clinton and Geraldine Furorro use the lowest form of filth to blow up the democratic party,  Olbermann stuck to his moral values and put himself out on a limb and did the right thing. I believe he deserves a thank you from all of us who appreciate his courage.

    Thank you.

When I look into the eyes of my children, I realize, the fight is no longer about me. They are our future, and I fight for them.

In what I anticipate to be an avalanche of negative feedback from a loud minority of Hillary Clinton supporters, I would like to take a moment to offer my personal support for Mr. Olbermann.  His nightly program has long earned the place of must-see TV for my wife and I.  His news coverage and opinions are a unique and important contribution to those of us who seek an honest, intelligent and unflinching take on world events.  My sincere thanks to MSNBC for providing him with this platform.  As always, Mr Olbermann has my gratitude, respect and support.

I had one of those corny moments. . .I was so thankful to see freedom of the press in action.

  •  I just tried to send an email (0+ / 0-)

to the address above and it was returned within seconds "not read..deleted without being read"...

Are they being overwhelmed or just decided that reading these emails is a moot point?

He deserves kudos and respect for telling the truth, even when it hurt -- as he said at the beginning of his comment, the Clinton family, including Bill and Hillary, have given him a great deal of support when some of his previous special comments ticked other folks off.  So I know it wasn't easy for him to come out against her -- but she needed to hear that message.

I was fighting tears by the end of that. I'm an Obama supporter, but I really don't want to see Hillary Clinton destroying herself or her reputation and legacy like this. I like the idea that a Democrat former First Lady has the education and talent to be a US Senator in her own name, and be a serious candidate for President. This is not what she should be standing for, or connected with.

Loyalty to friends and those who have supported you in the past is a tricky, emotional thing. Hillary seems to have chosen to support an old friend even when said friend's comments and stance are repehensible and actually hurting Hillary's cause. That is a twisted loyalty that benefits no one -- and we've had seven years of seeing what that kind of twisted loyalty can do, when loyalty is valued higher than the TRUTH, especially when the stakes are so high.

Keith has chosen to value truth, which was a hard but courageous thing to do, given his background with the Clintons. I hope she listens....

  •  It was shameful what Keith did (0+ / 0-)

He was my hero for his "truth to power" observations these last years...but he has gone into Bill-o land...totally off the rails.

My husband and I were so angry with him last night we were yelling at the TV.  But, I also kind of felt sorry for him...we were witnessing an implosion...he was incoherent and rambling, not to mention unattractively angry.  He really didn't make sense...he was all over the place.  And, how dare him try and destroy the Democratic party

    Shame on you Keith...

but I'm having trouble seeing it that way.

If anything, I felt he was less angry than usual.  He had a touch of sorrow in his demeanor.

He wasn't trying to destroy the Democratic party, he was trying to save it.  His comment wasn't meant to drum up resentment and backlash towards HRC; he was appealing to her to remove herself from the despicable comments of Ferraro and to cease and desist on the 'scorched earth' tactics of her campaign.

    •  It's Hillary that is trying to destroy the party (0+ / 0-)

She should have rejected and denounced Ferrarro's comments, not just distanced herself from them.

    •  clearly you don't know the large number of (0+ / 0-)

Democrats who hate Hillary Clinton.  Now, add that to the huge number of republicans who hate Hillary clinton. If she runs, McCain will win.

  •  Thanks for the address links. I just wrote ... (0+ / 0-)

... to thank Keith for his latest Special Comment. It was important for someone to call out Sen. Clinton and her campaign for their latest divisive attacks on Sen. Obama. Next, hopefully, other senior Democrats in the party will do so as well.

As somebody once said, all that is necessary for evil to triumph in the world is for good men to do nothing. We need more good men (and women) who understand that pacifism is not passivism.
